Step into a journey through Singapore’s rich maritime past, where history and legend intertwine – from the arrival of Sang Nila Utama on the shores of Temasek, to the tale of Raja Chulan, the seafaring king who sought to uncover the mysteries beneath the waves.
Epic Lore, Epic Visuals
In the final segment of the exhibition, visitors explore the ancient waters and folktales of Singapore at the bottom of the sea where a mystical giant crab resides in the roots of the “Pauh Janggi”, the magical tree of life.
Southeast Asian Legends Revived
Meet the legendary giant crab of Singapore’s shores, said to stir the tides themselves. Its armoured shell glows with bioluminescent magic, adorned with patterns that light up the sea in waves of colour.
Tree of Life
The magical tree Pauh Janggi resides in the middle of the ocean vortex, and said to bridge human and spiritual realms. And like all fabled legendary trees, we made it visually stunning to highlight its important role in South East Asian folklore.
Tale as Old as Time
Animatics combining handdrawn sketches with 3D camera movement help us to visualise the pacing, range of movement, and flow of storytelling across the projection canvas.
World of Myth (and Magic)
We explore possibilities over multiple iterations of concept art, arriving at these styleframes that set the tone and direction for the team.
Wireframes To Wonder
We wanted our 3D animation to evoke a sense of wonder, blending an ethereal atmosphere with dramatic lighting and effects, whether it’s deep underwater or soaring among the constellations.
Animating the Constellations
Dynamic fly-throughs transport our audience on a journey across space and time, from tranquil mangrove shores, to deep underwater, to an exhilarating flight through the stars.
