National Day Parade
2022 - 2025

Singapore’s National Day Parade is more than a show — it’s a living breathing canvas. From stage visuals to projection graphics, we’ve designed these moments to make these shows special every year.

Act 2: Our Future, Our Aspirations.

Stage graphics at the Padang, together with projection artworks illuminating the UOB and Fullerton buildings, transform the city in celebration of SG60.

Heartfelt Visuals

We brought to life several artworks by artists with disabilities; whose perspectives were central to the act’s message of resilience and aspiration. We worked carefully to ensure the integrity of each artwork was retained in animation, while still feeling cohesive as one visual experience.

Colourful Fascia

As the canvas was a continuous fascia screen spanning the Grandstand, we had to design visuals that flowed across the entire stage, guiding the audience’s gaze while also synchronising with live choreography, pyrotechnics, and audience light interactions.

Beyond the Show

As part of the show’s extended canvas, our animation was projection-mapped onto two iconic buildings along the city skyline, Fullerton Hotel and the UOB Plaza, expanding the visual experience beyond a single plane.

Record-Breaking Projection

The 280-metre-tall façade of UOB Plaza 1 became the world’s tallest, brightest and longest projection-mapped display, setting three new Guinness World Records.

As a canvas of exceptional scale, it required a rethinking of visual design, motion, and legibility. Each movement, colour, and transition had to be carefully shaped to ensure the visuals remained emotionally resonant even at far distances.

The result is a multi-layered visual field, where animated multimedia is no longer confined to a screen but exists across surfaces, surrounding the audience and deepening the sense of immersion.

The vivid neon visuals of Geylang Serai and Little India and Chinatown’s festive lightings and markets are combined with the eye-catching retro signage of local F&B brands.

By creating an eclectic mix of whimsical, animated texts and logos, the artwork reflects Singapore’s identity as a melting pot of diverse cultures.

Chapter 5 - We Uplift Each Other

A fallen star finds its way back to the sky, gently guided by others it meets along the way. With each connection, its path becomes clearer and brighter, until together they form a glowing galaxy. Each light may be small on its own, but in unity they shine more brilliantly.

NDP 2023

Act 2: Our Strength

Animated graphics were projected on the stage floor for multiple song and dance segments to set the atmosphere and context of each show segment. We drew inspiration from the founding stories of Singapore, starting as a fishing village immersed in lush nature.

Setting the Stage

The floor projection graphics were timed harmoniously with the choreography of the performers – for example, for the Prelude, water flowed in from four sides in sync with the entrance of cyclists; as if surfing the waves.

Generative Plants

We developed procedural tools to simulate the growth of plants and interaction with elements such as wind and rain, breathing life to the thriving forest floor.

NDP 2022

Animated sequences commissioned for the opening act of Singapore's National Day Parade 2022, projected onto a massive LCD screen to a live audience of 25,000. It reflects an eclectic and energetic Singapore right before the pandemic hit.

Let's Get This Party Started

DJ TINC’s performance kickstarts this segment with a catchy remix of popular hit songs that evokes a dance party! With her DJ console as the starting motif, the screen graphics is a wild, vibrant mashup of visual styles, mirroring the remix approach of the music.

Urban Pulse

A person power-walks through a city that’s bouncing and vibing to the beat of the music. We envision a surreal, fantastical city built with geometric forms, taking inspiration from local architecture such as Tiong Bahru and Golden Mile Complex.

Put Your Boogie Shoes On

We employed motion capture technology to capture the lead choreographer’s fabulous dance moves, and applied it onto 3D figures dancing in recognisable Singapore locations now reimagined as surreal disco dance floors.

Glitch in the Matrix

A myriad of visual styles collide and overlap in a spectacular, climatic visual mash-up. Different artists add their distinctive spin to the frames, as the screen glitches and fragments, colours and textures clash to foreshadow the breaking down of the music.
